        Evaluations FDH conference

        Gregory Engels  10 March 2013 20:47:50

This are the evaluation results of the participants of the PPI Conference 2011 in Freidrichshafen, Germany

        Overall Scores
        Average Score: 80%
        Number of evals completed: 22
Comments: The conference was organized with a remarkable efficiency

The open space was very interesting and a nice idea. Discussions on statutes ammendments should be done more officially though (probably with beamer and splitting the room, just the same as we did for the elections).

Never ever start a two day conference again at 8:00 on a Sunday morning. Saturday was excellent, Sunday was to hectic due to parallel events.

great event. super deutch beer and lovely Pirates. but, please, expresso coffee for beginning day is indispensabler fro PP IT !! lol

Die Location war v├Âllig ├╝berdimenmisioniert. Catering nicht inkl, und das bei diesem Preis. Ohne Worte

        lunches should be envisaged

It was very well organized. But when you look at the costs it would be very disappointing if it wasn't well organized.

it would be easier to pay a price that includes an overnight stay and meal

        Openspace was an fantastic experience

Positive: great communication, talks and exchange with other Pirates Negative: Confusion between the General Assembly as the PPI's highest organ and a generic conference - Open Space during the official part lead to disruption of the Assembly work flow

Food costs could have been included, at least lunch. Invitation to conference should have included easy ways to get there for people who don't know the area.

The location was great! so much better then last year, were you had to climb through a toilet to get to the small room... Also it was good that table space was limited, so the people have spent their time communicating in person, instead of staring each into his own laptop.

Great work from the Board who have organized such a great event as volunteers!

        Comments: Well organized

Remote voters were ignored too much.

The chairman did a good job

STV was a catastrophe, not suited for the task and insufficiently explained to the participants

Somewhat un-organized with people running back and forth. More breaks needs to be planned in. Better integration of remote participants, different system than skype?

The outcome was a catastrophe for PPI - Samir has already began ruining it all. The STV voting method is also very questionable, cause it randomly chose candidates - I don't like the idea of a machine deciding who will be the winner of an election.

The election method was a mess - it should be changed, as it should not rely on a mere chance

Comments: The second day was a bit unordered (for example the membership fee was announced in the morning but was done much later).

        ?!

8:00am was way to early - no one was there.

it was too early, and the most people not disciplined enough to be there on time.

Comments: They were a bit hidden, probably it would have been better to leave them at the beginning.

Too early, but with remote participation quite interesting.

        Comments: Very emotional and touching

Very emotional, perhaps a bit too much. Still for the event the perfect closing keynote!

Very impressive, it was hard not to start crying :p

        arrr

        Fantastic

        Good, emotional. Addressing everyone

        Thank you Rick!

Comments: They were not "official enough".

In front of the beamer and applying the rules of procedure and it's perfect. Idea to not force everyone to participate should be applied next conference again!

It was excellent that it was done in a small round, without interfering with all those who had fun in the meantime.

Excellent Idea to move it to an extra session, so it does not bore to death all who is not interested.

Comments: Participation was hight, the results surprised me. Only the introduction was too long.

Open Space was an incredible waste of time which won't deliver any results. This is not a good Idea for an international meeting.

Too much time spent on introduction of the concept of open space workshops.

very good. Only bad part was spaces outside of room a bit hard for people to find.

The preparation was excellent! The introduction to the OS was a little bit over-esoteric - the strange colored cloth in the middle of the room was... strange. Other than that, it was excellent. The People who arrived late had not easily got into the flow of the others, something could be done here, perhaps.

Open Space is great! We should do more of it.

Comments: Probably one day would have been enough (we were a bit run out of ideas). If you announce the open space earlier people could think of more topics.

Due to lack of participants not as good as on Saturday. Don't start at 08:00!

Good concept but crashing with important PPI issues. No time to attend Open Space

it has not really worked to have it in parallel with the official sessions... and it was to early - there was no one there at 8am.

Comments: Very good that it was at the beginning!

Participation of remote voters made it very interesting, showing that while we are 1000 of km apart, we have the same goals and ideas.

Good about candidates present but remote candidates needed at least short summary of why they would be good to be read up.

        Was very well organized.

        This was great

Comments: Due to a late start too rushed. Also reports were not well prepared (mine included).

I guess the auditors did their best, but it got overshadowed by the immense fail of not having backups of the administration. A busfactor of one concerning finances is unacceptable. Good to know we have placed a fix for this now.

A common (possibly written) statement on last year's activities from the board might be a good idea.

Thanks to the old Board for this conference!

The place was to cramped and unfriendly. And they have thrown us out, cause they didn't liked Pirates!

The conference is now over and we hope you got home safely. If you would take some minutes to fill out the evaluation, we could learn what have worked and what not - and make the future conferences better. Thank you all, and see you very soon! (Gregory)
